The Cosmetology Research Foundation was established in 1990 using funds provided by the founder of KOSÉ Corporation, Kozaburo Kobayashi, who was appointed as its first Director. Today the social role of cosmetics has extended beyond the role of simply keeping the skin clean and looking beautiful to cover a broad range of perspectives, from health and medicine to sociopsychological aspects. At the Cosmetology Research Foundation we see the promotion of research into cosmetology to effectively address the needs of such times as significantly important, not only to the cosmetics industry, but also on a social level.
Following the passing of its first Director, his successor, Reijiro Kobayashi (died August 2011), carried on the wishes of its founder, and continued to contribute to the industry and society as a whole through the further development of cosmetology.
In line with government reforms to the public interest corporation system in Japan, the Cosmetology Research Foundation received approval to be listed as a public interest corporation and was newly registered as “Public Interest Corporation The Cosmetology Research Foundation” on October 11, 2011. We look forward to your continued support as we continue to aim for further growth and development under this new system in the years to come.
